Fred Astaire Dance Studio has been a contributing member of the Fort Myers community for over 40 years. In 2006, Fort Myers Fred Astaire’s was ranked #2 in the nation under the guidance of Mr. Steven Wilkie. Mr. Wilkie moved West to take over a franchise in Nevada, but is now back at the helm and is determined to take us back to the crowning glory of a few years ago…shooting for #1.

With over 60 years of combined experience, our qualified staff can offer you the finest in social and competitive dance instruction available.

Life is different when you dance!

Fun…Although your commitment to learn to dance can require concentration, dedication, and time, you will constantly have artistic and cheerful people who will make your learning here at our studio an exciting and rewarding experience.

Health…Dancing can truly help the body’s circulatory system, as it makes your heart beat faster. Dancing encourages weight control and overall fitness. The movement associated with your dancing is a wonderful mild form of exercise most people want but rarely get, especially in such a wonderful environment. Not only does dancing help keep your body active, it also provides mental stimulation comparable to crossword puzzles or playing bridge.

Friendships…Beyond learning, dance will open a wide variety of social settings for you to gain friendships and help make your dreams come true. We offer: practice parties, local, regional and national competitions, and a full social calendar. Come to where the dancers come!

Confidence…Dancers possess an aura of self-confidence and the ability to enjoy themselves in many social settings. We hope to help you grow with a renewed sense of creativity, motivation and energy.

Creativity…Dancing provides a wonderful emotional outlet, that allows everyone to reflect their feelings through body movement. You, like everyone else, possess the ability to dance. We only need to help cultivate it through our outstanding teaching methods. As Mr. Astaire said, “Some people seem to feel that good dancers are born. All the good dancers I’ve known have been taught or trained.”
